Built on the grounds of the NZ Bloodstock thoroughbred auctions in the affluent rural suburb of Karaka. Doubletree by Hilton is in Parklike surroundings close to the Southern motorway on the road south out of Auckland. It’s 40 minutes from the CBD without traffic. That’s great if you are looking for peace and quiet but if your reason for being in Auckland involves the CBD this may not be your best choice. It is the only nice hotel in this part of town. The hotel has modern, relatively luxurious rooms, a great restaurant and bar, as well as an outdoor pool.

The location is a 7/10. Karaka is on the way South out of Auckland. Stay here if you are visiting Pukekohe, Karaka, or are on your way south out of Auckland. Don’t stay here if you are visiting Auckland and want to spend your days in the CBD. You really need a car in this location.
Restaurants & Bars at Doubletree By Hilton Karaka
The restaurant and bar Ethereal Artisan Kitchen is great. It’s the best place to eat in the area and will be popular with locals as well as hotel guests.
Accommodation Standard at Doubletree By Hilton Karaka
The standard of accommodation offered at Doubletree by Hilton Karaka is great, far better than anything else anywhere nearby. The hotel opened in 2022 so it’s very modern. The building is purpose built as a hotel so the layout is excellent. It’s a great place to stay if you need to be in this area.
Negatives
- The location is a long way from the the CBD and not really a getaway destination. It’ll be popular when the thoroughbred auctions are on, but otherwise it seems like to nice a hotel for the location.
