Overview
This is a large well located 4 star hotel in the heart of Auckland’s tourist district. Boasting harbour views, funky decor, and 190 guest rooms. It’s great for couples, and families, also popular with business travellers.
Location
The location is a 10/10 for tourists. It’s right on the waterfront, Across the road from Viaduct Harbour and Princess Wharf. This is an excellent location with Sea Views from the harbour facing rooms. A short walk to ferries, trains, The viaduct Harbour and Queen Street.
Restaurants & Bars
M Socials Beast and Butterflies restaurant offers sea views and food from around the pacific rim. It’s popular with locals as well as hotel guests. And it’s only steps away from the many restaurants of the Viaduct Harbour dining precinct.
Beast and Butterflies offers a cocktail bar at the entrance but it is more of an afterthought. A fine place to get a drink if your meeting someone but not really a destination venue.
Accommodation Standard
The standard of accommodation offered at M Social is a 8/10. The furnishing is eccentric and fun but looks like it will date quickly. Though the rooms themselves are great with excellent bathrooms. This hotel has a longer than average time between check out and check in. No doubt this 4 hour window explains why they have such excellent reviews for cleanliness. The rooms are usually spotless.
M Social is exceptional value, while it’s at the top end of 4 star hotels in Auckland in terms of fit out and facilities, and in a 5 star location, the pricing is similar to many other hotels which are of lesser quality.
