Parking in Auckland CBD is pretty scarce and can be expensive. We’ve scouted out the parking situation at all the top hotels and can let you know which ones offer free parking, and which ones offer paid parking. There’s actually quite a few that have none at all. If you’re visiting Auckland and have a car the parking can add a significant cost to your stay.
Which Auckland Hotels offer Free Parking?
The Convent Hotel is a really well priced boutique hotel with free parking. It’s located in the city fringe suburb of Grey Lynn and is close to Eden Park as well as Auckland Zoo. It’s a charming hotel built in an old convent. It’s a great spot for couples. And most importantly the parking is free.
The Surrey Hotel
The Surrey Hotel is also in Grey Lynn just down the road from the Convent Hotel. It’s a solid 3-star hotel with a great pub and a popular local restaurant. It’s also got free parking. It’s a short bus ride to the city, close to the motorway (but not to close – you won’t hear it). A great option near the CBD.
Auckland Rose Park Hotel
Rose Park Hotel is another great city fringe Hotel with Free Parking. This one is in Parnell next to the Rose Gardens. It’s a nice safe quiet location, but close to Parnell shops, Newmarket and the CBD. It’s also close Mission Bay and Spark Arena. Most importantly it’s got free car parking for guests.
The Parnell Hotel & Conference Centre
The Parnell Hotel and Conference Centre is another great hotel with free parking in Parnell. Close to Rose Park its city fringe. You can actually walk to town from here if you’re fit, it’s really not that far. By why would you if you’ve got a car and free car parking.
Nesuto Stadium
Nesuto Stadium offers packages that include breakfast and parking. Not so much free as included in a package deal but it is in the CBD and does have a great parking offer, even if it’s not technically free.
Best Western Newmarket Inn and Suites
Best Western Newmarket Inn offers free parking and it’s actually possible to stay here as a tourist visiting Auckland. It’s a 800 metre walk to New Markets shopping district. Plus Newmarket station has regular trains to Britomart in the CBD.
Best Western Ellerslie International Hotel
Best Western Ellerslie International Hotel is a good option for business or family travelers. It’s a 4-star hotel with a heated outdoor pool and a restaurant. It’s only 7 km to town but that’ll take 30 minutes in peak traffic. It’s quite nice accommodation and reasonably well priced, and they offer free parking.
Devereux Boutique Hotel
Located in Remuera Devereux Boutique Hotel is a little further out than you could really call city fringe, but it’s got free parking and it’s a nice area. Close to Newmarket and Mission Bay. It’s a short drive or bus ride to the CBD.
Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre offers 400 free car parks for hotel and conference guests. The hotel is quite large and very scenic. It’s in Panmure on the edge of the lagoon (a flooded volcanic crater. It’s a nice area close to Sylvia Park Mall and with good motorway access. A popular Business Hotel with free parking.
Jet Park Auckland Airport doesn’t just offer free parking while you’re staying at the hotel, they also offer long term parking while you are overseas. Stay one night and you can leave your car for 2 weeks. It’s no good if you want to stay in the CBD but if you are on a business trip it’s not bad.
Naumi is one of the nicer hotels near Auckland Airport. They offer free car parking and have plenty so there’s no need to book a car park. The hotels a 5 star and the rooms are really funky. The y also have a pool and a putting green. It’s a 30 minute drive to town (longer in peak traffic).
Holiday Inn Auckland Airport is another hotel that offers free long term parking while you are away on holiday as well as offering free parking to guests. It’s a good option for families visiting Auckland with a car. It’s also popular with visiting aircrew
Sudima Auckland Airport is one of the nicer hotels near Auckland Airport. It’s popular with business travellers, perhaps in part because they offer free parking to guests which is great for sales people with a rental car. It’s a long drive from the CBD but close to the Airport and Auckland’s industrial heart.
Quality Hotel Lincoln Green
If you don’t mind staying in Henderson, a 30 minute drive from the CBD then of course they offer Free Parking. The Quality Hotel Lincoln Green has plentiful free parking for guests. But it’s a long way from ton so unless your visiting West Auckland maybe it’s cheaper to pay for parking and be in the CBD.
Ramada Manukau
Ramada Manukau is in a part of Auckland where all hotels should offer free parking – But not all of them do. It’s a nice new Apartment style hotel close to the mall and next door to the popular Lone Star restaurant. It’s not bad for families or business travelers.
How Much Does Hotel Parking Cost in Auckland
The price of Hotel Parking in Auckland CBD varies with the quality of the hotel, and the location, most 5 star hotels charge $45-55 per night for parking. Crowne Plaza is the exception, with an excellent central location and parking at only $26 per night. Grand Millennium is also good value at $25 for self-parking ($50 for valet).
If you are staying further out of the CBD, then Newmarket and Takapuna are both short of parking and typically charge $20-30 per night. While in Ellerslie, Manukau, and Albany, where frankly, parking should be free, many hotels still charge around $10 per night.
