Cordis Auckland is a beautiful and well appointed hotel that has been recently renovated. The heated rooftop pool is one of Auckland’s best hotel pools. Eight Restaurant offers eight different kitchens each offering their own cuisine, they really do cater to every taste.
Located in at the top end of town this 5 star hotel is a long walk from the Viaduct Harbour and Auckland’s waterfront attractions. It is located over the road from a cemetery which may be of concern to some guests, but for most it is just a beautiful park like view.
Cordis is close to the Auckland Domain, Auckland Hospital, and the French Cafe. It’s great for couples, business travelers, and families. It’s good value in comparison to other 5 Star hotels in Auckland.

The rooms are large and well appointed, this hotel is on the edge between 4 and 5 star. It has a club lounge with awesome views of the city. Grand Millennium is an excellent choice for Couples, Families or Business Travellers.
With 352 rooms Crowne Plaza is one Auckland’s largest hotels. Winner of Auckland Best Business Hotel 3 years in a row (2017-2019). This 5 star hotel is superbly located in the heart of Auckland CBD. Large executive rooms at very reasonable rates combined with an excellent restaurant and a central location make a firm favorite for business travellers.
It’s close to Aotea Square, 10 pin bowling, movies, restaurants, the Sky Tower and all that Auckland has to offer. There is a mall downstairs, and it’s a 2 minute walk to Queen Street and 10 minutes to the Viaduct.
Pullman Auckland is a substantial 5 star hotel with 340 rooms located on the Corner of Princess Street and Waterloo Quadrant. Next to Auckland University, Old Government house and Albert Park. It’s a short walk through Albert Park to the fabulous Auckland Art Gallery and a 20 minute walk to the Viaduct Harbour.
This is one of Auckland’s older 5 star hotels but has been renovated and is of a high standard. It’s great for business travelers, older couples and families.
SkyCity Hotel is part of the SkyCity complex. It’s 320 hotel rooms plus a Casino, theatre, the SkyTower and 20 bars and restaurants. This is a large Hotel with plenty to see and do nearby.
SkyCity Grand is consistently among the best hotels in Auckland. It’s big, with a total of 312 rooms. Thanks to its location in the middle of Auckland’s central business district, with many of Auckland’s best restaurants literally on the doorstep. This genuine 5 star hotel has everything you need for a holiday or a business trip. It’s part of the SkyCity complex including the SkyTower, SkyCity theatres and the SkyCity Casino. So even if you don’t stay here, it’s still a must visit location while in Auckland.
One of the top hotels in Auckland The Grand has spacious well appointed rooms that are impeccably maintained. It has all of the facilities you could hope for in a hotel including valet parking, gym, and spa.
JW Marriott is a 5 star hotel with some very luxurious suites. This large hotel has 286 rooms and 3 restaurants. It’s located on Albert Street, a central city location roughly halfway between Skycity and the Viaduct Harbour. Most of Auckland’s attractions are in easy walking distance but none are on the doorstep either.
Don’t miss The Grove Restaurant located a few minutes walk away and consistently one of Auckland’s best restaurants for many years. This is a great hotel for business travelers.

Rydges Hotel is an excellent 4 star business hotel with 267 rooms located on Auckland’s Federal Street. Because of it’s CBD location it’s a short walk to all the attractions in central Auckland.
A solid 4 star hotel, it provides comfortable rooms at a variety of price points ideal for business travellers with a medium budget looking for CBD Accommodation. Because they get so many business travelers most rooms contain a small desk suitable for computer work.
This 263 room, 4 star hotel is right next to Auckland International Airport Terminal. It’s literally 20 metres from the hotel to the escalator at the terminal entrance, so if you need to stay near the airport this is the closest and most convenient option. They also offer day stay rooms between 6am and 3pm perfect for weary travellers with a long wait between flights.
It’s equipped with everything you would expect in a 4 star hotel except for a pool. There’s also not much room outside to play if you’re travelling with children. This is the best hotel for business travelers and late night arrivals, if you need to stay one night at the airport and can afford it this is the best hotel.

Holiday Inn is a large 4 star hotel is close to the Airport and Auckland’s main industrial areas. Meaning it’s great for one or two nights if your meetings are out of the CBD. It’s a long way to the North Shore so if you’re planning meetings in Albany look for something in Takapuna instead. Holiday inn Auckland Airport has 251 rooms.
The Quadrant Hotel
The Quadrant Hotel and Suites consists of 240 adequate 4 star hotel rooms at a reasonable price in a slightly off central location. Next door to the 5 star Pullman, it’s in easy walking distance of all of downtown. And it’s really close to Auckland University.
The Quadrant is a cost effective, clean, safe place to stay but not really a desirable place to stay. You don’t come here for a romantic getaway, you come because your budget won’t stretch to something nicer. There is nothing wrong with the hotel or the location but it won’t be the highlight of your trip. This hotel is just barely a 4 star.
Jet Park is a solid 4 star hotel in with a large modern conference centre. With 222 rooms it’s perfect for business travellers and company conferences. Close to the Auckland Airport and the surrounding business park. It also has excellent access to Auckland’s industrial heartland.
The rooms are well kept and reasonably priced. If you’re in Auckland for a couple of nights and most of your meetings are out of the CBD this is a great option. The restaurant is excellent however, if you want to try something else there’s not a lot of other dining options in this part of Auckland. If you’re here for a long stay you’d be better off in one of the 4 star hotels in Auckland CBD.
Recent renovations make Britomart’s 205 room Mövenpick Hotel Auckland one of the top 5 star hotels in Auckland. Located in the heart of Britomart, on Customs Street East at the foot of Queen Street in the Auckland CBD.
Britomart is a very central location and handy to everything on the Auckland waterfront. So why not take a ferry to a Waiheke Island, or stroll to the Viaduct Harbour. Shop Auckland’s CBD or take a train to Newmarket, Auckland’s best shopping district.
Mövenpick Hotel is a 5 star Auckland hotel with clean, modern well decorated rooms in a central Britomart location, great for couples or business travellers.
A cheap 2 star hotel with 198 rooms close to the airport. IBIS Budget Auckland Airport is a great option for families travelling on a limited budget. Because it’s an airport hotel it’s better suited to a single night than a long stay.
On the plus side it’s new, clean and well kept, showing 2 star hotels don’t have to be a bad experience.
The location is really good for an airport hotel, it’s next to a small shopping mall and has plenty of cheap dining options in walking distance, great if you want to stretch your legs but don’t have time to go anywhere far. And it’s really close to the airport. Only Novotel Auckland Airport is closer.
With 187 rooms and 10 suites Hilton Auckland is a sizable hotel. Auckland is known as the City of Sails, and a stay at the Hilton literally puts you out on the harbour amongst the yachts. This upscale hotel located on the tip of Princess wharf so the views of Auckland’s waterfront are incredible. This is one of Auckland’s top hotels.
The Hilton hotel is located next to Viaduct Harbour which is a must do location to visit, with more restaurant choices than you’ll be able to try during your stay. It’s a short walk to Auckland’s central business district, Britomart train station and the Maritime Museum. Also close by is the ferry terminal.
As you’d expect from the Hilton, the rooms are generously sized and luxuriously furnished. The heated outdoor pool offers incredible views across to Devonport.
Because of these factors the Hilton is perfect for executive business travellers, romantic couples getaways, or family holidays. This 5 star hotel isn’t cheap but it’s an experience you will never forget.
The most expensive 5 star hotel ever constructed in New Zealand is now open. Park Hyatt is the place to stay in Auckland. This is an incredible location and no expense has been spared. It’s a huge site but the Park Hyatt is about quality not quantity so while it has 4 restaurants it only has 195 rooms. It is great to see a hotel prioritise guests space and comfort over short term profits.
This will be the best place to be during the America’s Cup in 2021. It’s right next to Team New Zealand’s base in the heart of Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour.
the 194 room Sudima Auckland City is a magnificent new (opened December 2020) 4 star hotel in Auckland’s CBD. It’s in an excellent location near Sky City and the yet to be opened New Zealand Convention Centre. It’s a walkable distance from the Viaduct and it has a great rooftop bar. This is one of the best value hotels in Auckland right now.
This is a large well located 4 star hotel in the heart of Auckland’s tourist district. Boasting harbour views, funky decor, and 190 guest rooms. It’s great for couples, and families, also popular with business travellers.
The location is a 10/10 for tourists. It’s right on the waterfront, Across the road from Viaduct Harbour and Princess Wharf. This is an excellent location with Sea Views from the harbour facing rooms. A short walk to ferries, trains, The viaduct Harbour and Queen Street.
This 185 room 4 Star Hotel is located in Auckland CBD it’s a fairly short walk to the Viaduct and to the Sky Tower, however it’s a little further to Queen Street. It has a excellent heated rooftop pool making it a firm favorite with families. For serious swimmers it’s also got an indoor lap pool. Look out for their excellent school holiday deals.
This 172 room waterfront hotel is one of the most luxurious hotel sin Auckland. It’s lobby and shared spaces are incredible as are the rooms. This is the best hotel in Auckland for a romantic weekend. Because of this it’s also an amazing wedding venue. Sofitel is also the perfect place for an executive retreat.
The location is impeccable. It’s in the Viaduct Harbour, a short walk from everything Auckland has to offer but because it’s further away from the bars than the Sebel it’s a bit quieter.
Because it boasts an amazing day spa and first class restaurants, it’s an experience not to be missed. There’s spectacular views from the marina view rooms and all rooms have a balcony.
