President Hotel Auckland

President Hotel is a cheap 3 star hotel with a great location in downtown Auckland. The rooms a clean well kept, it offers excellent value for money for anyone travelling on a budget. The two room family suite is great value for those travelling with children. Close to Queen Street, the SkyTower and in easy walking distance of Viaduct Harbour or Spark Arena.

The Sebel Hotel Manukau

The Sebel Hotel Manukau is a brand new hotel. It’s a great option for New Zealand families visiting Auckland. There is plenty of parking, it’s close to many misd priced family restaurants like Lonestar. It’s also really close to Rainbows End, Wero White Water Park and the Manukau Shopping Centre. It’s got excellent access to the motorway when you want to go into the CBD allow an hour at peak times for traffic. Due to the location in Manukau it’s considerably cheaper than other hotels in it’s class in more desirable locations.

IBIS Budget Auckland Airport

A great cheap 2 star hotel offering comfortable accommodation very close to Auckland Airport. It’s close to Butterfly Creek, Rainbows End, Wero White water Park and Manukau Shopping Centre. A great spot for families traveling on a budget.

Juicy Snooze Auckland

Jucy Snooze offers both private rooms and shared dormitory rooms. Private rooms are available in Double, Triple or Family. They are really cheap, and well run but don’t expect a 3 star hotel. What you get is a really cheap hotel room in downtown Auckland. If your expecting the Hilton then look elsewhere.

IBIS Auckland Ellerslie Hotel

IBIS Hotel Ellserslie is cheaper than the ajoining Novotel. It’s a 3 star so keep your expectaions in check. This is a great location next to Ellerslie Race Course and close to the Greenlane Showgrounds. It’s popular with budget business travellers and families. It’s not really a romantic get away.

The Surrey Hotel Grey Lynn

The Surrey Hotel is located in Grey Lynn. It’s right on the fringe of the city. In easy distance on an electric scooter. Or a cheap bus ride. It’s a English style hotel with a pub attached. Great for families, it’s really close to Auckland Zoo, MOTAT, Western Springs and the Auckland CBD. It’s also a 20 minute walk from Eden Park. This is a nice 3 star Hotel with some genuine character. It’s perfect for older travelers and families.

Auckland City Hotel

This 3 star Hotel is in a historic building in Auckland’s central business district. It’s not the most desirable location in the CBD, but it is in walking distance from everywhere you want to be. If you can’t afford to be in the Viaduct this is a great option. It’s clean and well kept with consistently good reviews. There is some car parking available. This hotel has a little more character than many in others in the cheaper price range and is great value.

The Quadrant Hotel & Suites

The Quadrant Hotel and Suites is a adequate hotel at a reasonable price in a slightly off central location. It’s in easy walking distance of all of downtown. It’s close to Auckland University. It’s a cost effective, clean, safe place to stay but not really a desirable place to stay. You don’t come here for a romantic getaway, you come because your budget won’t stretch to something nicer. There is nothing wrong with the hotel or the location but it won’t be the highlight of your trip.

Scenic Hotel Auckland

Located on Queen Street in the Heart of Auckland City well priced hotel is in a great location. It’s cheaper than many others that ate located this central and better appointed than most hotels that are cheaper. This is great for couples on a budget of families. It’s close to Aotea Square but you walk out the door onto Queen Street all of Auckland CBD is a only a short walk away. Undergoing renovation in 2019 scheduled for completion early 2020. Most of this hotels negative reviews relate to the ongoing construction work, they clearly flag that the hotel is under renovation on the home page of their website.

VR Queen Street Hotel

Located near the top end of Queen Street the VR Queen Street Hotel is a lower priced hotel. It’s still in the Auckland CBD but it is near the top of Queen Street. If your holidaying here you can still walk anywhere in Auckland Central but it is a bit of a hike back up the hill to your hotel. Consider it part of your fitness regime and you’ll be just fine. The hotel itself is at the nice end of 3 star or the bottom end of 4 star. You’ll be staying here because of the price or vacancy of other hotels but it’s actually a nice place to spend a few days. It’s close to K Roads bars and nightclubs. It’s also close to the townhall and Aotea square.

Haka Hotel Suites Auckland City

Located on K Road in the top of Auckland’s CBD haka Hotel is in a different part of town to any of the other Central Hotels. K Road is known for it’s vibrant nightlife with plenty of bars and nightclubs expect some noise and plenty of drunken idiots on the streets on a Friday or Saturday night. This is a great location if you’re one of the drunken idiots. The hotel itself is really nice. It’s still pretty new (as of 2019) and things are well maintained. It’s perfect for younger travellers. Reviews are generally very good which can be hard to maintain for a cheap hotel. Haka Hotel is a well price quality Hotel in a location that won’t suit everyone but for some the location will be part of the attraction. It’s walking distance to anywhere if you are fit. Even Eden Park is only 20 minutes walk. Ponsonby is closeby and the Viaduct is a pleasant 30 minute downhill stroll. Less fit visitors might want to take a bus or uber back.

Auckland Rose Park Hotel

As the name suggests this 3 star hotel is located next to Auckland Parnell Rose Gardens. It’s a quiet location away from the CBD but still very close. If your are fit and make a day of it the city is a long walk away. Most will take a bus or a taxi. Parnell is a very upmarket suburb with a great shopping area and plenty of bars and restaurants. They are not renowned for being to rowdy though. It’s also handy to New Market a 20 minute walk away and Mission bay a 10 minute taxi ride.  This is a great location for older guests and families with younger children.
