Mission Bay is a beautiful seaside suburb very close to Auckland CBD. Famous for its superb views of Rangitoto Island, great restaurants, and it’s stunning beaches. This is a wonderful place to stay in Auckland, and a must visit location if you stay elsewhere.

Stay Mission Bay is a recently renovated apartment complex converted to self catering accommodation. It’s really the only hotel quality option in Mission Bay. They offer Studio, 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom apartments. Stay Mission Bay is located right in the heart of Mission Bay a short walk from the beach and park, close to at least 30 restaurants. This is a great part of Auckland, a short bus ride from the CBD.
Hotels in Panmure/Mt Wellington
Waipuna Hotel & Conference Centre
Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre is a fairly large 4-star hotel located on the edge of Panmure Lagoon. It’s close to Sylvia Park, Pakuranga, Ellerslie, and Mt Wellington. It’s the largest hotel in East Auckland. It’s handy to the motorway and has a great jogging track around the lagoon, and there’s a large public swimming pool complex a short walk away too. Great for business or families. It wouldn’t be my pick for a romantic weekend but you could do worse.

Novotel Ellerslie is located just off the motorway at the Greenlane Roundabout on the edge of the Ellerslie Racecourse. It’s a 4-star hotel perfect for business travelers or those in town for the races. It’s also handy to the showgrounds.
The 3-star cousin to Novotel Ellerslie. IBIS is situated right next door and offers all the same location benefits at a lower cost. So it’s perfect for anyone on a tighter budget needing to stay in East Auckland.
Best Western Ellerslie International Hotel
Best Western Ellerslie International Hotel is a good option for business or family travelers. It’s a 4-star hotel with a heated outdoor pool and a restaurant. It’s only 7 km to town but that’ll take 30 minutes in peak traffic. It’s quite nice accommodation and reasonably well priced.

Nesuto Newhaven
Nesuto New Haven is located in the East Auckland Suburb of Botany. It’s an apartment complex, and often has a 7 day minimum stay. Botany has a large mall with some restaurants, and movie theatres. It’s also a short drive from Pakuranga, Howick, and Manukau. Nuseuto Newhaven, has a pool, a gym and a tennis court. There’s an ice skating rink a short walk away.

The Prospect of Howick
The Prospect of Howick is a small historic Hotel with great pub and restaurant downstairs. Howick is a charming village (long swallowed up by Auckland) with a lot of historic buildings and great restaurants. It’s close to Cockle Bay and Mellons Bay beaches. THis is a long way from the CBD so stay here if you need to be in Howick or want to explore this part of Auckland.

Rydges Formosa Golf Resort offers a championship golf course and boutique accommodation in the form of individual units spread around the course. There’s a great restaurant and bar in the club house. The hotel is 4 star. This is a great spot for couples looking to get away for a night.
