Situated in the idyllic Waitakere Ranges on Scenic Drive, this hotel is set in native forest with views back towards the city. It’s a great weekend escape from the hussle and bussle of Auckland’s CBD. There is plenty to see and do in West Auckland. Piha beach is not to be missed, the Waitakere Ranges have fantastic walking tracks. Swap the noises of the city for birdsong and relax. Ask for a room in the new wing. While the location is stunning the hotel itself is not as grand as it looks in photos. It’s a great place but keep your expectations in check.

Take either a ferry or a helicopter from Auckland city and stay in this playground for visiting rock stars and celebrities. The views of the Hauraki Gulf are unsurpassed. The infinity pool is an instagramers dream. The food and wine list are an assortment of the best New Zealand has to offer. Pamper yourself or the one you love at Delamore’s day spa. This is a true luxury experience.
Located in Beachlands on Auckland’s south east coast Formosa Golf resort has had a chequered past. But with it’s 2020 purchase by the NZ Superannuation Fund injecting the capital needed to bring the course back to its original glory, and the management expertise of Rydges running the accompanying hotel it looks like Formosa will finally reach the potential it’s always had.
This is a stunning location with incredible views in every direction. A 40 minute ferry ride to pine harbour from the CBD or about an hour by car. It’s a world away from Auckland’s CBD. The perfect spot a round of golf, dinner at Nineteen Restaurant , and a night away from the kids.
Castaways Resort
Castaway Resort is a 1 hour drive from Auckland Airport and a 90 minute drive from downtown Auckland. It’s a beautiful boutique hotel perched on the sand dunes over Karioitahi Beach on Auckland’s rugged West Coast. It has 15 two bedroom chalets and 10 Suites, There’s a restaurant and a day spa. This is a perfect couples getaway.
Spencer on Byron Hotel Takapuna is located a short walk from Takapuna beach. It’s also very close to shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel has a tennis court and large heated pool. It’s by far the tallest building in the area and has spectacular views if you have a room on a high floor. It’s perfect for those doing business in Albany, Silverdale, or anywhere on Auckland’s North Shore.
Waipuna Hotel and Conference Centre is located on the Panmure Lagoon. An extinct volcanic crater that is now a tidal lagoon. When the tide is in the view is beautiful. The lagoon has a 3km public running/walking track around it making it great for an evening jog. The location is close to Auckland largest industrial areas. The conference centre is one of Auckland largest, this hotel is a popular conference venue. It has plenty of free parking if you have a rental car, otherwise take a taxi as public transport isn’t great.
The hotel has its own pool but serious swimmers will enjoy the nearby lagoon leisure centre which offers a large indoor swimming pool. While the hotel restaurant is fine, there are more lively bars and restaurants at the nearby Silva Park mall.
Located in Greenlane just off the motorway. This is central to Auckland Industrial Areas as well as being very close to the ASB Showgrounds Auckland main exhibition centre. It’s perfect for sales people visiting clients in the industrial areas or exhibitors at one of Auckland’s many industry focused shows. It’s a clean modern hotel at a reasonable prices. 15 minutes drive from the CBD, built on the edge of the Ellerslie Horse racing course grounds. Novotel Ellerslie is a great spot for any business traveller who doesn’t need to be in the CBD.
The Sebel Hotel Manukau is a brand new hotel. It’s a great option for New Zealand families visiting Auckland. There is plenty of parking, it’s close to many misd priced family restaurants like Lonestar. It’s also really close to Rainbows End, Wero White Water Park and the Manukau Shopping Centre. It’s got excellent access to the motorway when you want to go into the CBD allow an hour at peak times for traffic. Due to the location in Manukau it’s considerably cheaper than other hotels in it’s class in more desirable locations.
The Devereux Boutique Hotel
This boutique hotel is located in one of Auckland’s wealthiest residential suburbs Remuera. It’s a charming old building with rooms of varying levels of luxury. It’s close to Newmarket, and Mission Bay but not walking distance. This is a great hotel for older guests.
Quality Inn Lincoln Green
If you’re a tourist visiting Auckland for the first time this hotel is not for you. It’s a clean safe place to sleep. Great if you need accommodation in West Auckland for business or family reasons. It’s really close to West Wave Aquatic Centre and The Trust Arena. It’s located on Lincoln Road which is famous for having more fast food outlets than any other street in New Zealand.
