This is the most luxurious hotel in Auckland. It’s lobby and shared spaces are incredible as are the rooms. It’s the best hotel in Auckland Central for a romantic weekend. It’s also an amazing wedding venue, or the perfect place for an executive retreat. The location is impeccable. It’s in the Viaduct Harbour, a short walk from everything in Auckland’s CBD. There’s spectacular views from the marina view rooms. All rooms have a balcony. It’s A close walk to many of Auckland’s best restaurants, don’t miss Baduzzi in Wynyard Quarter.
IBIS Budget Auckland Central
IBIS Budget Auckland Central is a 3 star hotel offering compact affordable accomodation in a very central location. It’s just off Auckland’s Queen Street. In easy walking distance of any of Auckland CBDs main attractions. This hotel is great for anyone travelling on a budget. Keep your expectations as low as they keep the price.
President Hotel Auckland
President Hotel is a cheap 3 star hotel with a great location in downtown Auckland. The rooms a clean well kept, it offers excellent value for money for anyone travelling on a budget. The two room family suite is great value for those travelling with children. Close to Queen Street, the SkyTower and in easy walking distance of Viaduct Harbour or Spark Arena.
Juicy Snooze Auckland
Jucy Snooze offers both private rooms and shared dormitory rooms. Private rooms are available in Double, Triple or Family. They are really cheap, and well run but don’t expect a 3 star hotel. What you get is a really cheap hotel room in downtown Auckland. If your expecting the Hilton then look elsewhere.
Auckland City Hotel
This 3 star Hotel is in a historic building in Auckland’s central business district. It’s not the most desirable location in the CBD, but it is in walking distance from everywhere you want to be. If you can’t afford to be in the Viaduct this is a great option. It’s clean and well kept with consistently good reviews. There is some car parking available. This hotel has a little more character than many in others in the cheaper price range and is great value.
The Quadrant Hotel & Suites
The Quadrant Hotel and Suites is a adequate hotel at a reasonable price in a slightly off central location. It’s in easy walking distance of all of downtown. It’s close to Auckland University. It’s a cost effective, clean, safe place to stay but not really a desirable place to stay. You don’t come here for a romantic getaway, you come because your budget won’t stretch to something nicer. There is nothing wrong with the hotel or the location but it won’t be the highlight of your trip.
Scenic Hotel Auckland
Located on Queen Street in the Heart of Auckland City well priced hotel is in a great location. It’s cheaper than many others that ate located this central and better appointed than most hotels that are cheaper. This is great for couples on a budget of families. It’s close to Aotea Square but you walk out the door onto Queen Street all of Auckland CBD is a only a short walk away. Undergoing renovation in 2019 scheduled for completion early 2020. Most of this hotels negative reviews relate to the ongoing construction work, they clearly flag that the hotel is under renovation on the home page of their website.
VR Queen Street Hotel
Located near the top end of Queen Street the VR Queen Street Hotel is a lower priced hotel. It’s still in the Auckland CBD but it is near the top of Queen Street. If your holidaying here you can still walk anywhere in Auckland Central but it is a bit of a hike back up the hill to your hotel. Consider it part of your fitness regime and you’ll be just fine. The hotel itself is at the nice end of 3 star or the bottom end of 4 star. You’ll be staying here because of the price or vacancy of other hotels but it’s actually a nice place to spend a few days. It’s close to K Roads bars and nightclubs. It’s also close to the townhall and Aotea square.
Haka Hotel Suites Auckland City
Located on K Road in the top of Auckland’s CBD haka Hotel is in a different part of town to any of the other Central Hotels. K Road is known for it’s vibrant nightlife with plenty of bars and nightclubs expect some noise and plenty of drunken idiots on the streets on a Friday or Saturday night. This is a great location if you’re one of the drunken idiots. The hotel itself is really nice. It’s still pretty new (as of 2019) and things are well maintained. It’s perfect for younger travellers. Reviews are generally very good which can be hard to maintain for a cheap hotel. Haka Hotel is a well price quality Hotel in a location that won’t suit everyone but for some the location will be part of the attraction. It’s walking distance to anywhere if you are fit. Even Eden Park is only 20 minutes walk. Ponsonby is closeby and the Viaduct is a pleasant 30 minute downhill stroll. Less fit visitors might want to take a bus or uber back.
SkyCity Grand Hotel
SkyCity Grand is consistently among the best hotels in Auckland. Thanks to it’s location in the middle of Auckland’s central business district, with many of Auckland’s best restaurants literally on the doorstep. This genuine 5 star hotel has everything you need for a holiday or a business trip. It’s part of the SkyCity complex including the SkyTower, SkyCity theatres and the SkyCity Casino. If you don’t stay here it’s still a must visit location while in Auckland.
This hotel has spacious well appointed rooms that are impeccably maintained. It has all of the facilities you could hope for in a hotel including valet parking, gym, and spa.
SO/ Auckland Hotel
Located in Auckland’s Britomart district SO/ Auckland Hotel is one of Auckland newest 5 star hotels. It’s modern hip decor sets it apart from other Auckland Hotels. It’s location is very central with the Viaduct Harbour and Queen Street and easy walk. This is a great location for younger couples and business travelers who like the nightlife. It’s close to Auckland’s main concert venue Spark Arena so it’s great for New Zealanders visiting Auckland for a concert.
Amora Hotel Auckland
This is a really well priced 4 star hotel in Auckland CBD. It’s on the top end of Grey’s Ave close to the bars and clubs of Auckland’s K Road. It overlooks the picturesque Meyer’s park. Do not be tempted to walk through Meyers park alone at night.
This hotel is great for couples. Its is a long walk to many of Auckland’s attractions and popular restaurant districts, that is reflected in the price. The hotel itself is a solid 4 star. The pool is very small not suitable for lap swimming.
Cordis Auckland Hotel
Located in at the top end of town this 5 star hotel is a long walk from the Viaduct Harbour and Auckland’s waterfront attractions. It’s located over the road from a cemetery which may be of concern to some guests. It’s a beautiful and well appointed hotel that has been recently renovated. It’s close to the Auckland Domain, Middlemore Hospital and The French Cafe. It’s great for couples, business travelers, and families. It’s good value in comparison to other 5 Star hotels in Auckland.
Grand Mercure Auckland Hotel
Grand Mercure Hotel is recently renovated and located in the heart of Auckland CBD on Customs Street East at the foot of Queen Street. It’s very central and handy to anything on the Auckland waterfront. Take a ferry to a Waiheke Island, or stroll to the Viaduct Harbour. Shop Auckland’s CBD or take a train to Newmarket for Auckland’s best shopping district. This 5 star hotel has clean, modern well decorated rooms in a central location.
The 4 star cousin to the Skycity Grand Hotel. This is also an exceptional hotel for anyone visiting Auckland. Offering all the same location benefits as Skycity Grand at a slightly lower price point. The rooms are almost luxuriously appointed. It’s great for anyone traveling to Auckland for any length of stay. Popular with business travelers, couples and families it offers something for everyone. Don’t miss the views from the SkyTower or the fabulous restaurants of Federal Street.
Pullman Auckland Hotel
Pullman Auckland is a 5 star hotel located on the Corner of Princess Street and Waterloo Quadrant. Next to Auckland University, Old Government house and Albert Park. It’s a short walk through Albert Park to The Fabulous Auckland Art Gallery and a 20 minute walk to the Viaduct Harbour. This is an older hotel but has been renovated and is of a high standard. It’s great for business travelers, older couples and families.
Stamford Plaza Hotel Auckland
Stamford Plaza is a 5 star hotel with some very luxurious suites. This large hotel has 283 rooms and 3 restaurants. It’s located on Albert Street, a central city location roughly halfway between Skycity and the Viaduct Harbour. Most of Auckland’s attractions are in easy walking distance but none are on the doorstep either. Don’t miss The Grove Restaurant located a few minutes walk away and consistently one of Auckland best for many years. This is a great hotel for business travelers.
Hotel DeBrett is a beautifully restored and renovated Art Deco themed 5 star Boutique Hotel located on High Street in the heart of Auckland City. It’s proximity to Shortland Street makes it perfect for business people who are needing to be in the city centre. It’s got plenty of character and history, with only 25 rooms you will be well looked after. It’s an easy walk to Britomart and the Viaduct Harbour. This is a great central location. If you’re staying here don’t miss dining at the nearby Cassia restaurant.
The Sebel Hotel Viaduct Harbour
This is an apartment hotel and doesn’t have all of the amenities you might expect from a quality hotel. However it makes up for it with its location. This is right in the heart of the Viaduct above some of Auckland’s finest restaurants. It can be a little noisy on Weekend nights as it’s in the busiest part of the viaduct. The higher the room the less noise there is. You will be spoilt for choice of restaurants. No other hotel puts you into the action of the Viaduct Harbour nightlife like the Sebel.
