Copthorne Hotel Auckland Review
Overview
Boasting 106 room and 4 larger suites, but lacking a Fitness Centre, Spa, or Pool, Copthorne hotel is a pleasant but fairly modest 4 star hotel on the edge of Auckland CBD. It’s close to the University and Spark Arena. This is a great hotel if you are a farmer visiting Auckland from Waikato or Taranaki to see a classic rock band play at Spark Arena. It’s also great for travelling sales people. There is nothing really wrong with Copthorne Hotel, it’s clean and well run with friendly staff but is a little tired and dated. That is reflected in the price, if you can afford something nicer then there is plenty to choose from in Auckland. This is in the lower end of 4 star hotels in Auckland.
Location
The location is a 6/10 for tourists. But it’s great if you have business at the University or are seeing a show at Spark Arena and are on a budget. It’s in the CBD but well off to the side, and a long walk from most popular locations.
Restaurants & Bars
Jimmy Cooks Kiwi Kitchen offers food and drinks. No celebrity chef here just good honest kiwi tucker. Great if you’re hungry but don’t bring a date here hoping to impress them.
Accommodation Standard
The standard of accommodation offered at Copthorne is a 6/10. It’s clean and well run. the staff are friendly and it’s really well soundproofed. But it looks pretty old and tired. This is great if visiting Auckland is the experience and the hotel is just a place to sleep, however if the hotel is part of the experience then you’ll be better off elsewhere.
It is great value rooms here can be had for under $100 per night which is unheard of for a 4 star hotel in Auckland in 2019.
