Cordis Hotel Auckland Review
This is Auckland’s best family hotel. It’s large with 411 rooms and 2 restaurants. And it’s as luxurious as you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Cordis Auckland has a large heated pool on the rooftop that is open year round. There’s also a hot tub, sauna, and the magnificent Chuan Spa. They offer free use of electric bikes to explore Auckland, and they have a kids club.
The location is a 6/10 for tourists. It’s at the top end of Auckland’s CBD, well away from the Sky Tower and even further from the Viaduct Harbour. You can walk to anywhere in Auckland from here, but you’ll likely end up using uber a fair bit or the inner link bus. There is an old cemetery across the road, which is great if you’re a history buff but may be offputting if you’re superstitious. Most guests would come and go without ever being aware of the graveyard, so don’t let that put you off this excellent, well-priced luxury hotel.
Restaurants & Bars
Eight restaurant is a 9/10. Eight restaurant is named for its eight separate kitchens. There’s Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Italian, a New York-style grill, a great salad bar, a seafood kitchen, and last but not least, a dessert kitchen. This is great for families as there really is something here for every taste, and it’s all high quality. They have the best buffet breakfast in Auckland.
The Lobby Lounge offers a la carte dining for lunch and dinner, amazing high teas, and a tempting cocktail list.
The standard of accommodation offered at Cordis Hotel is a 10/10. The hotel has been refurbished regularly over the years, the rooms are large by Auckland Hotel standards, the smallest rooms are 28 square metres or 300 square feet. The largest is a massive 117 square metres or 1266 square feet. They are well furnished and maintained. The lobbies and shared spaces are excellent and this hotel has everything you could want.
