Pullman Hotel Auckland Review

Overview of The Pullman Hotel Auckland

Pullman Auckland is a large 5 star hotel near Auckland University, it’s been around a long time but has been refurbished and is in OK shape. This is a big hotel and everything about it is large, the pool is 25m long, the rooms are big, so are the meeting rooms and banquet spaces. Pullman Hotel Auckland is great for conferences and weddings.

In addition to 340 guest rooms, the Pullman Hotel also has all the facilities you would expect in a 5 star hotel including an excellent spa, restaurant and bar.

Location

The location is a 7/10 for tourists. It’s near Auckland University so great if you have business there. This location is set well away from Auckland’s bars and restaurants, so it’s great if you like a quieter spot. (Although sound proofing is not the best feature of the Pullman). While it’s a fairly long walk to the Viaduct or Sky Tower from here, it is close to Auckland Art Gallery, the University of Auckland, and Albert Park.

Pullman Hotel Auckland Parking

Valet parking is available for $45 per day. Street parking nearby is hard to come by during weekdays and is paid. There are several nearby parking buildings the best of which is the Victoria Street car park.

Restaurants & Bars

Tapestry Restaurant is self described as a modern brasserie serving food made with international flavours and techniques, while using local produce. That pretty much describes every NZ restaurant that isn’t offering a hangi (traditional Maori cooking method). I’ve eaten here on several occasions and found it to be good but not great. Totally fine for breakfast and dinner once. If you’re staying longer make the walk down the hill and try the fabulous Cassia Restaurant.

Omni bar offers cocktails and food.

Accommodation Standard

The standard of accommodation offered at Pullman Hotel is a 7/10. Pullman hotel seems due for a refurbish. It’s not horrible but far from the top end of 5 star hotels. This is fairly reflected in the pricing though it still offers good value for money. The facilities are magnificent. Unmatched for the price in Auckland so if you can put up with the odd stain on the carpet then it is fantastic value.

Negatives

  • The location is a little out of the way unless visiting the University.
  • Some rooms could use a refresh (2019)

Outstanding Features

  • Large well equipped hotel
  • Great Pool one of Auckland’s best.
  • Large rooms even the smallest are 23m square.
  • Excellent Spa
