Auckland Business Hotel Rydges Hotel Auckland exterior at night

Rydges Hotel is an excellent 4 star business hotel located on Auckland’s Federal Street. Because of it’s CBD location it’s really close to the Sky Tower.

Sky Tower Viewing Deck

view of skytower with Devonport and Rangitoto in the background

The best views in Auckland. The iconic Sky Tower is the tallest building by a huge margin and the views are spectacular.

Sky Jump

Why just admire the view from the Sky Tower when you can jump off.

Sky Walk

If jumping off the Sky Tower isn’t for you? Then this may be the next best thing. Sky Walk gets you right outside on the ledge. Not the activity for folks who don’t like heights. But if you want the best view in Auckland then this activity is for you.

East Day Spa

Recently voted New Zealand’s best hotel spa for the second year in a row. East Day Spa is the perfect place to pamper yourself.

SkyCity Casino

SkyCity Casino at Sky Tower in Auckland.

This one is a different kind of adventure. Less adrenaline than some of the others but seeing a big whale up close is a real thrill. Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf has a year round population of bryde’s whales (a close relative of humpback whales). There are also bottlenose and common dolphins year round. Migrating humpback whales, pygmy blue whales and the occasional sperm whale. There are also frequent visits from Orca pods. Auckland Whale and Dolphin Safari is not cheap but it is totally worth the money and more. If you’ve never seen a whale before it is an unforgettable experience. Do not miss this activity. Auckland Whale and Dolphin Safari leaves from Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour daily.

Dining at the Sky Tower.

There are plenty of great dining options at the Sky Tower, with restaurants both up the tower and in SkyCity below.

MASU

My favorite of all the SkyCity Restaurants. MASU is a Japanese robata style restaurant and bar. It’s located in SkyCity’s Federal Street dining precinct.

Bellota

Bellota is Spanish style tapas by Peter Gordon. Make sure you try the 36 month cured Spanish Ham.

The Grill

The Grill has New Zealand’s best Steak Library. If you’re looking for beef then this is the place for you. They also have magnificent seafood but with steak that good on offer why would you?

Depot

Al Brown’s Depot has been one of New Zealand’s top restaurants ever since it opened. Describing itself as Fast Fun and Fresh, there is nothing pretentious about Depot, and they do not take bookings so if you’re willing to wait you can always get a table.

Haumi

Auckland’s best Yum Cha. A luxurious take on traditional chinese flavours. Truffle & prawn dumplings anyone? Try the famous Nectar Set Menu. It’s an experience you will remember.

Gusto at the Grand

Simple Italian food done well. Gusto at The Grand is a pasta lovers dream. They make sure to use the best fresh ingredients and treat them with the utmost respect to retain all the natural flavours.

Federal Delicatessen

Al Brown’s other restaurant on Federal Street. This is a New York style Deli. Specifically a Jewish New York style Deli actually. Think bagels, pastrami, and reuben sandwiches. Like a trip to New York for the price of a sandwich.

Restaurants up the Sky Tower

The Sugar Club

A modern Fusion restaurant with excellent plant based options including an entire plant based set menu. Don’t worry meat eaters, they have you covered as well with plenty of animals on the menu. Peter Gordon has reached new heights with Sugar Club.

Orbit

Like any good tower, Sky Tower has a revolving restaurant. If The Sugar Club is a little out of your price range then Orbit offers a slightly cheaper option. Don’t forget you get free entry to the Sky Tower view deck as well as dinner in the restaurant.

Other Sky Tower Restaurants and Bars

Fortuna Buffet Restaurant Eat yourself into a food coma at Auckland’s best buffet.

Andy’s Burgers Casual dining with quality burgers, fries and beer.

Sammy’s Lounge More of a bar with food than a restaurant. Live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.

twentyone LIve DJs, cocktails and an all night menu for that 4am cheeseburger you just gotta have.

Sky Cafe Grab a snack or light meal while you’re at the Sky Tower viewing deck.
