With so many of Auckland’s best known hotels full up with returness in isolation or quarantine it can be a little frustrating finding somewhere nice to stay. Don’t worry there are still plenty of great Hotels in Auckland not being used for isolation or quarantine. Here’s a few of our top picks.
Never used as an isolation Hotel. Park Hyatt is the place to stay in Auckland. This is an incredible location and no expense has been spared. It’s a huge site but the Park Hyatt is about quality not quantity so while it has 4 restaurants it only has 195 rooms. It is great to see a hotel prioritise guests space and comfort over short term profits.
After an early stint at Isolation Hilton Auckland is now back to business as usual, with no isolation or quarantine guests.
Auckland is known as the City of Sails, and a stay at the Hilton literally puts you out on the harbour amongst the yachts. This upscale hotel located on the tip of Princess wharf so the views of Auckland’s waterfront are incredible. This is one of Auckland’s top hotels.
The Hilton hotel is located next to Viaduct Harbour which is a must do location to visit, with more restaurant choices than you’ll be able to try during your stay. It’s a short walk to Auckland’s central business district, Britomart train station and the Maritime Museum. Also close by is the ferry terminal.
As you’d expect from the Hilton, the rooms are generously sized and luxuriously furnished. The heated outdoor pool offers incredible views across to Devonport.
The Grand is not being used for isolation. SkyCity Grand is consistently among the best hotels in Auckland. Thanks to its location in the middle of Auckland’s central business district, with many of Auckland’s best restaurants literally on the doorstep. This genuine 5 star hotel has everything you need for a holiday or a business trip. It’s part of the SkyCity complex including the SkyTower, SkyCity theatres and the SkyCity Casino. So even if you don’t stay here, it’s still a must visit location while in Auckland.
The 4 star cousin to the Skycity Grand Hotel. This is an exceptional hotel for anyone visiting Auckland. Offering all the same location benefits as Skycity Grand at a slightly lower price point. The rooms are almost as luxuriously appointed as it’s 5 star cousin. And best of all it’s not full of Covids.
The Hotel Britomart is a 5 star boutique hotel that opened 1st of October 2020. With 99 beautifully designed rooms and 5 romantic suites located in the heart of Britomart this is one of Auckland’s best luxury hotels. Covids need not apply – there’s no one isolating here.
QT Auckland Hotel is a 5 Star Design Hotel in Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour. With cool almost whimsical design in a great location this will be a perfect hotel for couples. There’s a range of room sizes the standards a little smaller than you might like but there are plenty of more generous options available as well. QT Hotel comes with a restaurant and bar downstairs and one of the best rooftop bars in Auckland. Not used as a coronavirus isolation hotel.
This is a beautiful and well appointed hotel that has been recently renovated. The heated rooftop pool is one of Auckland’s best hotel pools. Eight Restaurant offers eight different kitchens each offering their own cuisine, they really do cater to every taste.
Located in at the top end of town this 5 star hotel is a long walk from the Viaduct Harbour and Auckland’s waterfront attractions. It is located over the road from a cemetery which may be of concern to some guests, but for most it is just a beautiful park like view.
Cordis is close to the Auckland Domain, Auckland Hospital, and the French Cafe. It’s great for couples, business travelers, and families. It’s good value in comparison to other 5 Star hotels in Auckland.
This is no 5 star prison for returnees, its super luxurious and super covid free. It’s lobby and shared spaces are incredible as are the rooms. This is the best hotel in Auckland for a romantic weekend.
The location is impeccable. It’s in the Viaduct Harbour, a short walk from everything Auckland has to offer but because it’s further away from the bars than the Sebel it’s a bit quieter.
Because it boasts an amazing day spa and first class restaurants, it’s an experience not to be missed. There’s spectacular views from the marina view rooms and all rooms have a balcony.
It’s a close walk to many of Auckland’s best restaurants, make sure you don’t miss Baduzzi in Wynyard Quarter.
There’s no returnees isolating at Hotel DeBrett. Hotel DeBrett is a beautifully restored and renovated Art Deco themed 5 star Boutique Hotel located on High Street in the heart of Auckland City. It’s proximity to Shortland Street makes it perfect for business people who are needing to be in the city centre.
DeBrett’s has got plenty of character and history, and because there’s only 25 rooms you know you will be well looked after. This is a very central location so it’s an easy walk to Britomart and the Viaduct Harbour.
If you’re staying here don’t miss dining at the nearby Cassia restaurant, it’s one of Auckland’s best.
Voted the best new hotel in the world 2018 Hotel Grand Windsor oozes old world style and luxury. What it doesn’t ooze is coronavirus, this hotel is not being used as an isolation facility.
It’s a 5 star hotel located at the bottom end of Queenstreet in a historic building. This is a prime location next to the best shopping in the CBD, and only a short walk to one of Auckland’s best restaurants, Cassia. Only a stone’s throw from Britomart and 5 minutes walk from Viaduct Harbour. This hotel has location and style. So it’s great for local couples on a romantic weekend, or couples visiting Auckland for a holiday.
Delamore Lodge is the best 5 Star Hotel on Waiheke Island. It’s way too nice to waste on isolating returning travellers. It’s in an absolutely stunning location so take a ferry or a helicopter from Auckland and stay in this playground for the rich and famous. The views of the Hauraki Gulf are unsurpassed and the infinity pool is an instagramers dream.
Delamore Lodges food and wine list is an assortment of the best New Zealand has to offer. Why not pamper yourself or the one you love at Delamore’s day spa. After all this is a true luxury experience.
Sudima Auckland City is a magnificent new (opened December 2020) 4 star hotel in Auckland’s CBD. It’s in an excellent location near Sky City and the yet to be opened New Zealand Convention Centre. It’s a walkable distance from the Viaduct and it has a great rooftop bar. This is one of the best value hotels in Auckland right now and best of all you can stay in it because it’s not being used as an isolation/quarantine facility.
This fabulous apartment style hotel is not being used as an isolation facility. It has the best location of any 4 star hotel in Auckland. The Sebel is right in the heart of the Viaduct Harbour. Directly above some of Auckland’s finest restaurants. Don’t miss Soul Bar or Giraffe.
It can be a little noisy on weekend nights as it’s in the busiest part of the Viaduct. The higher the floor your room is on the less noise there is. No other 4 star hotel puts you into the action of the Viaduct Harbour nightlife like The Sebel.
This is the best located Hotel for the price in Auckland. It’s a Travelodge so it’s aimed and priced at the low end of 4 star but you could do so much worse for the price. This is in an incredible location. While it’s not quite on the viaduct it is a 2 minute walk to the Park Hyatt and 1 minute to The Sofitel. It’s got all of the restaurants of the Wynyard Quarter and the Viaduct within an easy walk. This is a great option if you are on a budget but want an awesome location. Not being used for quarantine.
Copthorne Hotel Auckland is 4 star hotel in Auckland’s downtown area. It’s a little further out than some other options, but it is a pleasant hotel in walking distance of the city centre. And it’s the only one of Millennium’s 3 Auckland Hotels not being used for Covid Isolation. It’s very close to Auckland University. The hotel has a small conference centre. It’s quite a walk to Auckland’s bars and restaurants from here, so you may end up spending more on taxis here than in other locations.
Avani Metropolis Auckland Residences is an apartment hotel. The rooms are studio, 1 bedroom of 2 bedroom apartments with cooking facilities. The hotel has access to the buildings gym and pools which are excellent.
Avani Hotel is between Kitchener Street and High Street which is an excellent central location. The Hotel itself has no restaurant but there are many excellent restaurants on High Street. Vivace Restaurant is not to be missed. Or a short walk will take you to Cassia, Auckland’s best equal restaurant in 2019.
